NEWS FROM THE EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING AT SASKATOON ON January 17th and 18th
Eight members attended the meeting. Sheila Righi chaired
the proceedings in the absence of president Len Fallows.

Plans for the 2012 bowling tournament at the Minto bowling alley in
Pr. Albert March 11-12th are now being finalized. If any club or individual
chooses to donate prizes for this event it would be gratefully acknowledged.

It was announced that next years convention would be
held on June 5-6-7 at the Heritage Inn, Sasktoon.

Club members are requested to actively participate in selling RAFFLE
tickets in 2012. Please keep in mind that every ticket sold will be
of immense benefit to the SSAI finances and in addition to each individual
club who will receive a 25% commission cheque for EACH and every ticket sold.
The raffle tickets will go out in January. You will soon receive
further information in the mail about this important project.

Many roundtable discussions took place questioning our inability to
convince the Saskatchewan government that most senior centers need
financial help. It was agreed that outside assistance would be
of major benefit. The Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism was
approached to assist us in our presentations. At the January meeting
we were pleased to greet Holly Shick and Betty Pickering who gave
invaluable guidance and to advise that the SSM will support the SSAI
in the brief presentation to be presented to the provincial
government, probably during April. The SSM will soon host a press
conference to inform the government of this development.

The executive would like to address the matter of a club dues increase
that was passed at the June convention. As you know the dues were four
dollars per member and they are now going to be increased to five dollars
in 2012. It was felt that due to the heavy shortfall in income the SSAI
was in an awkward position financially due mainly to reduced raffle
ticket sales and increased convention expenses. It was something we would
have liked to avoid but unfortunately we had little or no choice.

The Walkathon will again be held this year. April 1st to May 15
Forms will be mailed to you with the minutes of this meeting.
